Out of the House and Into The Living Room

New York: East Side Oral Literary Series and Artist Spotlight: Mike Viola -
I'm happy that the weather has started to turn wintery here and New York feels cozy. Recently I performed at The Living Room in the acclaimed reading series East Side Oral hosted by the lovely Elise Miller who is working on her sophomore novel and second baby, congratulations! The evening included the talents of JB MCGeever, Jason Wachtelhausen, Todd Levin, and me Greg Walloch. East Side Oral is one of the best long running literary series in New York, so check it out!

The very next night I was back at The Living Room to see the amazingly gifted Mike Viola. Watch "You Belong To Me" and see Mr. Viola in a tub, sexy!

Los Angeles: Performance-
For those of you who've been asking, I'm finally back on the West coast, for a little bit of time anyway.

On the flight out to LA I met The Amazing Kreskin. I didn't ask him to bend any spoons or foretell my future, but I did notice that his business card does say "Even now I know what you're thinking." For several days I kept looking at the card obsessively repeating to myself, "Get out of my head Kreskin! Oh God, can he hear me thinking that?!?" and then I realized I'd just forgotten to take my medication... Everything is fine now.

I'm in Los Angeles working on a new performance piece The Queer Physically Challenged Latina & White Sonny & Cher Of Now with Monica Palacios at Highways Performance Space.

After rehearsals I've been hanging out at BITE on 30 Washington Boulevard. Great drinks, sushi, and a hunk of a waiter! It feels lovely and so easy having dinner seaside in Venice beach, where the boys stroll by shirtless with their pants slung low and the women all look like wanna be porn stars. Ah, the special beauty of Southern California...

Though I did see a woman here the other day waiting to cross the street on Ocean Front Walk and she seemed confused. I walked over to offer her some help, because she looked like she might have had Downs Syndrome or may have been mentally challenged, but as I got closer I realized that she'd just had way too much plastic surgery. I'm not sure, but she might have been one of the women from the cast of Desperate Housewives now that I think about it. She had crossed the street by the time I had reached the corner, so we'll never know.

Burlesque at the Beach

Coney Island: Theater and Performance-
Summer is drawing to a close and what better way to spend those last warm evenings than at the beach?

Last weekend I was invited to perform at Coney Island's Burlesque at the Beach with Epstein & Hassan a.k.a. The Black & The Jew.
Some of the performers featured were The Great Fredini and the lovely Remy Vicious.
Coney Island USA is located at 1208 Surf Avenue in Brooklyn.

Castle of Imagination

Poland: Performance-

I've just returned from presenting work at Castle of Imagination: the International Performance Art Festival in Poland. The festival began in Northern Poland in Ustka and Slupsk then continued to Torun and Krakow.

The festival featured 35 artists from 13 countries: from Israel (Yaron David, Beni Kori, Yaacov Chefez - video), USA (Greg Walloch, Rose Hill, Peter Grzybowski - video), Germany (Parycja German, Patrick Jambon, Alexandra Gneissl), Ireland (Anne Seagrave), Italy (Giovanni Fontana), Poland (Karolina Stepniowska, Ewa Rybska, Wladyslaw Kazmierczak, Dariusz Fodczuk, Wojtek Kowalczyk, Danuta Nawrocka, Karolina Wiktor, Aleksandra Kubiak, Wicza, Paweł Kwaśniewski, Anna Syczewska), Czech Rep. (Jiri Suruvka, Ivanna Obstova), Canada (Maria Legault, Shannon Cochrane, John Boehme), Finland (Leena Kela), Latvia (Group AUSEKLIC / USINS), Holland (Peter Baren), Egypt (Omar Ghayat), Belarus (Denis Romanowski).

Meeting everybody at this festival and having the privilege of experiencing their work was profound in my life in ways words can't express. It is something special that I will remember forever.
