Riding the M60 home from La Guardia Airport, I traded my MetroCard for dollar bills to help a fellow traveler get on the bus. Yeah, NY busses only take coin or cards, drag... We struck up a conversation and introducing himself, Keith told me he was in town to screen his documentary: We Jam Econo: the story of the minutemen at The Walter Reade at Lincoln Center. He offered me a few passes to the film and reception. Contrary to what your mom told you, you should talk to strangers on the bus. Thanks Keith!

A totally engrossing documentary that chronicles the San Pedro, CA punk rock band The Minutemen: D. Boon, Mike Watt, and George Hurley. Featuring interviews with Flea, John Doe, Greg Ginn, Richard Hell, Ian MacKaye, Thurston Moore, Henry Rollins and more.
This film took me back to my high school days in Southern California and perfectly captured the early 80's "do-it-yourself" energy of the burgeoning Los Angeles punk scene. We Jam Econo: the story of the minutemen will play at Anthology Film Archives August 29th, through September 1st, 2005 in New York City. Click here to view the trailer.

I bought a clock on hollywood blvd the day I left Los Angeles

Los Angeles: Photo Shoot-
I was in Los Angeles earlier this week to do a photo shoot for a show I'll be premiering with Monica Palacios at Highways Performance Space in October. More info about the show in a future post, stay tuned.
It was sweet and poignant to hang out in Venice Beach only a few streets away from my very first LA apartment. Back then I rented a small studio for around $575. I lived less than one block from the buzz and color of the Venice boardwalk and beachfront. Ahh, the good old days... I can barely believe that I lived there more than fifteen years ago?!? I miss falling asleep to the sound of the ocean and the taste of salt in the air. Here's a photo from our shoot, we are very serious.

Flying to LAX on American Airlines, (the preferred airline for Greg Walloch travel) I sat next to Lance Bass certified cosmonaut, member of *NSYNC, and an all around sweet guy. I'm not an *NSYNC fan per se, though I did really like that single that was produced by BT. Mr. Bass and myself chatted a bit and found we had a few folks in common, it's funny how it is such a small world.

I had an amazing time performing in the All In One solo performance series at DAI's Das Haus der Kultur in Heidelberg.

Thank you to all who worked on the show and to the audiences who came out to see it!

On the way to the airport I crossed paths with Jerry Harmon - The Smoky Mountain Gypsy, he was just arriving to do his show. We'd never met before, but we "spotted" each other right away, I guess it takes a storyteller to know one. Maybe we just both had that road weary look? What a cool guy! The great thing about touring is that you get to meet so many talented an interesting folks.

Heidelberg is beautiful! I often found myself thinking, "I didn't know there were still places this beautiful on the planet..." That could've been the Absinthe talking, but I don't think so.
